Foothill Ranch Whole-Home Air Filtration Systems
Professional installation of your new air purifier is essential for several reasons. Our team can help you maximize your budget through expert guidance on product selection. We’ll accurately size your system. If an air purifier is too small for a home, it won’t provide the consistent protection you want. Our professional installers will also integrate your purifier with the rest of your HVAC equipment.
How big an air purifier you need depends on your house’s size and your indoor air quality (IAQ) goals. With proper sizing, most whole-house systems can provide at least four air changes per hour (ACH). That means the system will filter all the air in the home four times every 60 minutes. Four ACH is a good baseline for the average household. You may want a higher ACH if you have many pets or family members with asthma or severe allergies.
Another consideration is what your new air purifier can filter. Many systems have a relatively inexpensive prefilter that preserves the more expensive particulate matter filter. We often recommend opting for a system that uses a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter. HEPA filters can trap over 99% of the particles that pass through the system. That includes dust, mold spores, dust mite eggs, and other allergens.
Many air purifier brands pair the HEPA filter with one or more layers of activated carbon. It’s a manufactured form of carbon that has a significant surface area. That allows it to absorb gases and airborne chemicals, including volatile organic compounds. Once the purifier absorbs these toxins, they neutralize them so they can no longer impact your health.
You also have the option of pairing your air purifier with a germicidal light. These in-duct lamps can neutralize over 99% of bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens. While integrated lights are an option, stand-alone lamps benefit from the duct’s slower-moving air.
